Fremont Fresh Hop Event, Saturday, October 8th @ 3pm

fbc-wa-event-poster-brouwers-copy

Our first Hopfest showcase event of October — other than having multiple fresh hops beers on draft throughout the month– is hosting our friends at Fremont Brewing and showcasing all 4 of their Field to Ferment Fresh Hop Pale Ales, as well as their Cowiche Canyon Fresh Hop.  It’s an all around celebration of Fremont Fresh Hops.  The event starts at 3pm.  We look forward to seeing you.  More info on here.

Hopfest is coming. We encourage you to read on….

hopfest-shirt-2

Yes this is an old logo, however we are thinking of bringing it back.  Which brings us to Hopfest, our annual celebration of hoppy goodness is quickly approaching. This festival is constantly evolving, as it was originally held in August, then moved to September, and is now getting pushed even later. Why? Well, it’s pretty simple! Fresh hop beers are totally dependent on the weather and the timing of the hop harvest, and we want the freshest beers possible for your drinking pleasure.

This year we’re also trying something a little different! Instead of a week long festival, we’re going to celebrate hops and fresh hops the entire month of October! What does this mean? Well, you can count on there being at least 10 fresh hop beers on draft at all times, which we’ll tap as they become available, and constantly rotate. Plus we’ll also be holding select Hopfest events throughout the month, the first of which will be the Fremont Fresh Hop Showcase, on October 8th (see details below).

So, stay tuned, and we hope you will join us (many times!) for our October-long Hopfest!

Fremont Fresh Hop Showcase. Starts @ 3pm. Fremont Brewing is putting out a rotating series of fresh hop beers throughout September, called Field to Ferment—with a different varietal each week. We are going to hold on to one of each, and tap them on October 8th.

Tuesday, September 13th An evening with Moonlight Meadery

lMoonlightMeaderyLogo copy

On Tuesday, September 13th come out and try some delicious mead and cider from Moonlight Meadery.  We will be putting their Paramour and How do You Like Them Little Apples, on draft.  We will also be pour 2 or 3 other meads from the bottle.  What follows is a blurb about them taken directly from their website:

It all started back in 1995 when Michael, our founder and head mead maker, tried a cyser (apple and honey mead) for the first time.  Since that first sip Michael has developed a passion for, and masterful skill at, making international award winning meads.  Michael Fairbrother started Moonlight Meadery® with a mission to bring ultra premium meads to the market place.  It is more than merely a product or a process, it’s our obsession.

Our meads will be unique and unlike anything you have ever tried – you will find it incredible!   Mead and Ciders are only as good as the quality of their ingredients and the passion of the maker. This is why we use only True Source Certified™ honey, which is traceable back to the hives. We never pasteurize the honey we use, this ensures that the volatile aromatics of the honey are preserved through to the finish.

Since starting production in May of 2010, we have grown beyond our wildest dreams. We hope you will stop by to hear our story and try our meads, and tell your friends.

La Trappe is one of only ten Trappist breweries in the world allowed to carry the logo “Authentic Trappist Product”. This logo guarantees authenticity, recipe, tradition and, in the case of La Trappe, a thriving working relationship between monastery and brewery. These world-class beers have been brewed at the Cistercian Abbey of Onze Lieve Vrouw van Koningshoeven since 1884.

F*%k Cancer!

cavenaugh bar

F*%k Cancer!  Five years ago today our friend and co-worker Chris Cavanaugh lost his battle with this horrible disease.  Chris was well known in the Beer Industry and was one amazing bartender.  Raconteaur has been brewed, in his honor, by Elysian Brewing every year since.  Brouwer’s Café will be donating all proceeds from the sale of this porter to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, in hopes that one day we can truly F*%k Cancer with a  cure.  We invite you to lift a pint to him and the many others that have lost their battle with this disease.  Cavy, we miss you every day, and we wish you all the best.

Thursday, March 24th starting at 3pm, we will be celebrating our 11th Anniversary! Can you believe it’s been 11 years? What a wild ride, and we couldn’t do it without your continued support! So, for this special celebration we have Steve Luke ofCloudburst Brewing (who brewed our 9th anniversary at Elysian, and is known for his hoppy creations!) making the 11th Anniversary Hu11abalo DIPA. Expect it to be one hoppy ding dong! Saturday March 26th is Orval Day, and it’s coming to Seattle this year, hosted by us! What is Orval and why do they get a whole day dedicated to them? If you ask 100 brewers what their favorite beer is, we bet more than half of them will say, “Orval.” Notre Dame d’Orval Monastery has been making 1 beer and that beer is the stuff of legends. ”Three different malts, two types of hops, Belgian candy sugar, complex fermentation with multiple yeasts, dry-hopping and bottle conditioning all contribute to great character and complexity.” –merchantduvin.com The challenge has been extended to select bars around the country to see which one can pour (and have their patrons consume!) the most Orval in a single day. We would of course love that honor, but need your help in making this happen! Come to Brouwer’s and taste (again or for the first time) the first Brett beer to land on the shores of the United States. Starts at 11AM.
and then its on to April…

Saturday, April 9th all day long is “6 Degrees of Inebriation”, which will raise money for select local charities (still working on which ones!). 6 Breweries including Firestone Walker, New Belgium, Deschutes, HUB, Sierra Nevada and Two Beers proposed this event, so look for rare beers as well as some core beers from these 6 breweries. Some of the proceeds will be donated to charity and there will be a game show (complete with interactive games!) from 4-6pm. This is an all day event, but show up early to sign up for the game show. We will have a draftlist soon and it will not disappoint

The year ahead.

Sorry for the radio silence.  The holidays lead in to the New Year and somehow we haven’t posted since before Christmas.  To catch you up on a few things, we are working on a new website that will unite all of our locations in to one informative and connected website.  We have also been planning the year out and have a few events right around the corner that we would like to tell you about.
Let us tell you about Thursday, February 4th, we have not one, but two very special events planned. Hop lovers will rejoice.

2x4day First off running from 11 to 3 pm will be the first ever Melvin 2X4 day, 24 bars, 9 states 1 beer.. www.2x4man.com. We have had this beer on draft a couple of times in the past but Melvin has expanded and now we have the opportunity to have this beer a lot more.  2×4 has won the GABF Alpha King award twice, in consecutive years.  Think Ninja’s, Hip Hop and Hops.  Nuff said.

hopmob_b_w (1)-page-001Next, and the Grand daddy of all Washington Hop lovers events, the Kickoff party to the Washington Hop Mob Event. This event starts at 3pm and goes until we close.   Three years ago this event had 14 participants, this year we have 40 and we only expect it to grow in the upcoming years.  We look forward to this event every year.  This year we have an award for the winner.  Come out and taste the awesome for all of these Washington Breweries.  For more info on the Washington Hop Mob Roadshow check the website.
Last but certainly not least…now in its 14th year Hardliver Barleywine Festival, on February, 27 and 28th.  More info to come, but for now here is the poster.
