Thanks for all your support!

We would like to take this time to say Thank you for all of your support throughout Seattle Beer Week.  We had a lot of fun and hope you did too.  We put a lot of effort in to making these events come together.  We plan on making our way through the kegs that we still have on hand from all of the events throughout the upcoming weeks.  After we make it through those we will get back to business as usual.  If your liver needs a reward for surviving the week, come on down and grab  a tasty beverage.   Now to announce a few upcoming events:

Next Monday,  May 28th at 6pm we will be tapping Crispin Oak Aged Marvin Cider made with Molasses, Honey, Dark Chocolate and Black Cherries fermented with a Stout Yeast.  We have yet to try this but we hear it is delicious.

Next Thursday, May 31st at 6pm we will tap a couple Double Mountain Beers including their Seasonal Release ClusterF?!k a delicious IPA.  We hope you will join us and try this delicious adult beverage.

Seattle Beer Week is upon us!!!

It is almost here!  What you ask?  The balancing act that is Seattle Beer Week, 10 days of celebration in honor of the great beer culture here in this city.  It all kicks off tomorrow at Elysian Brewing at 6pm.  Our first event, Back in Black Stoutfest,  starts Friday morning at 11 am when we open.  I can assure you that we have been planning for this event and will have over 40 stouts on draft for your drinking pleasure.  Here are a handful of the breweries we will have beers from Driftwood, Avery, Fremont, Black Raven, Port, Nectar, Firestone Walker, Emilliese, Dogfish Head, Boneyard, and many more.  We can assure you this is a not to be missed event.  We hope to see you here.

We’d like to take this opportunity to tell you about an event, on Saturday, May 12th, at our new bar, Burgundian, located at 2253 N. 56th St in the Tangletown area of town.  Its a 5 course, $65 beer dinner with our Chef Ryan and Laurelwood starting at 7pm.  You can purchase tickets through brown paper tickets.

During Seattle Beer Week at times we will be doing things out of the ordinary.  We will not be offering Happy Hour throughout the 10 days.  Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.  We will return to regular happy hour at the conclusion of Seattle Beer Week.  However, throughout the entire Seattle Beer Week we will be running a Boilermaker Special with Four Roses Yellow Label, add a shot of Four Roses Yellow label to any beer for $6 dollars.  As if all the beer weren’t decadent enough.

We will be closed the entire day on Wednesday, May 16th so that we can set up for the evenings 10 course dinner with the Homebrew Chef Sean Paxton.  Again we are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.

We thank you in advance for your support throughout the years and over the next “week!”  We will also be hosting:

Monday, May 14th 6-11 Big Sky “Ride the Bull” event…its exactly what it sounds like, we will have a mechanical bull taking up a lot of the downstairs. We will start setting up for this event by removing all the tables from downstairs at 3pm.  Wear your western gear and get ready to get bucked!

Tuesday, May 15th @6pm Everybody’s favorite, Beer and Burger Battle.   If you are unfamiliar with this event, the idea is simple, 5 breweries compete to see you can build the raddest burger and bring the best beer lineup.  This year reigning Champs Fremont defend their title against contenders, 21st Amendment, New Belgium, Black Raven and Hair of the Dog.  This is always a great event.

Wednesday, May 16th @ 6pm The Homebrew Chef /Firestone Walker ticketed event 10 course meal.  Again we will be closed all day for this event.  There might be one or two tickets left to this event.

Thursday, May 17th @11 am  Sour Beer Fest.  This is exactly what it sounds like we are replacing almost all of our taps with Sour Beer.  This is a not to be missed event with lots of brewers on hand and some of the best sour beers available.  Again we have been hanging on to beers from to name a  few but not all, New Belgium, Cantillion, Russian River, Tilquin, Bocker, Petrus, and many more.  We anticipate that this will be a great day.  Again we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support in advance.

We have some projects in the pipeline….

We here at Brouwer’s are excited to announce a couple of projects that we have been working on that involve local distilleries and wooden barrels.  We got this little beauty, from Woodinville Whiskey, pictured above and are currently seasoning it with the intention of making our own cocktail in it in the upcoming months.  Suggestions on what cocktail we should pour from it?

A month or so ago we had an evening with Boundary Bay Brewing and Dry Fly Distillery which showcased Boundary’s beer aged in Dry Fly Whiskey Barrels, from this evening an idea was hatched.  We went ahead and purchased some barrels and gave them to a handful of local breweries to age a beer, with the intention of releasing it at our Bigwood festival in December.  We gave barrels to Big Time, Elysian, Elliot Bay (Lake City), Black Raven and Fremont.   We look forward to having 5 unique beers available at Bigwood.

Have you heard?

We are pleased to announce that we opened another bar in the Tangletown area, Burgundian, located at 2253 N 56th St. open 10-12am Sunday- Thursday and 10am- 2am Friday and Saturday.  22 stellar taps and breakfast all day!  What beats that breakfast all day. If that’s not enough they have an extensive Bourbon and Tequila list as well. We suggest the Chicken and Waffles,  the Burgundian Burger, or the specials that have been created by Chef Ryan.

Who likes hoppy beer?  Monday at 6pm, here at Brouwer’s we a will be tapping 5 Double IPAs: Russian River Pliny the Elder, Sierra Nevada Hoptimum, Silver City Whoop Pass, Firestone Walker Double Jack and Port Brewing Hop 15  for your drinking pleasure.  If you are a lover of the hops this is an event for you.  Come in and get punched in the mouth with hoppy deliciousness.

Seattle Beer Week!!

It’s just around the corner May 10th – 20th and we have a few events that you will not want to miss.

We are expecting Friday, May 11th at Back in Black Stout fest to be awesome.  We have been saving kegs all year.  Big Time is actually going to bring a Underburg Stout!  All the fun begins when we open the doors at 11am.  We will have special stout inspired menu items as well.

Monday, May 14th starting at 6pm is Big Sky Ride the Bull Night.  That’s right, We are putting a mechanical bull inside.  You are encouraged to wear your western outfit and join us for an evening like none other.  You might want to bring some dance moves too.  We will have cans of Big Sky Ipa along with 4 draft beers.

Tuesday, May 15th is one of our favorite events of the year.  Beer and Burger Battle! It’s simple, Five breweries are tasked with creating a one of a kind burger recipe, bringing 4 or 5 beers to showcase and sales decided the winner.  This year looks to be quite a battle with Fremont returning to defend their title against the likes of Hair of the Dog, New Belgium, 21st Amendment, and another local favorite Black Raven.  This is shaping up to be a battle of epic proportions.

Wednesday, May 16th at 6pm Dinner with Firestone Walker and the Homebrew Chef, Sean Paxton.  This one is a not to be missed event and almost sold out at this time, with something like 15 remaining tickets.  Get your ticket here.  This year Sean and our own Chef Bobby have some great ideas centered around English pub food meets Brouwer’s Cafe, held together with Firestone Walker Beer, titled “Now for Something Completely Different!”, I’m told there is a Monty Python reference in there.

Lastly, May 17th at 11am everybody’s favorite Sour Fest…think a Sour Beer from the likes of Cantillon, Cascade, Tilquin, and New Belgium to name a few.

We know it is a tough week to choose where to be, but feel that you will want to spend at least part of your days with us.

Today we remember….

Today we remember a great friend and co-worker, Cavy, who lost a battle with cancer a year ago. I am sure we all have our favorite Cavy story. He is missed. He was certainly one of the funniest people we have had the joy of knowing and working with. We will be pouring Elysian Raconteur in his honor. We could go on and on about Chris and just spent the better part of the morning reminiscing and telling stories, we suggest you do the same.

Psst! Hey Bro, it’s 4/20. Those fun folks down at Lagunitas brewed a beer to honor this day called Waldo’s Special. They are claiming its the dankest and hoppiest beer they have ever brewed. That’s saying something cause everything they make is hoppy. Today we will be tapping it at 4:20 and there will be some treats here from the brewery. Come on in and get some!

Thanks!!

We had those donation cans by the door all March long, and would like to thank all of you that donated to the cause. We are unsure of exactly how much you helped raise from here, but through the whole month and all the bars involved we were collectively able to raise just over $16,000 to help support Treehouse a non-profit that helps Foster Kids get their needs met. Thanks, without your support this would not be possible.

We would also like to take this time to let you know that there are about 40 tickets left to the Sean Paxton aka Homebrew Chef Collaboration dinner with Chef Bob and Firestone Walker. I assure you this is not a to be missed event. If you are thinking of coming we would urge you to make your reservations sooner than later.

We are making our lists for both Stout and Sour fest and checking it twice…we hope to have a few more details sooner than later.

Better late than never…

We are pleased to announce: Bottleworks is releasing their 13th Anniversary Beer, brewed this year by Stone, on Saturday, March 24th at 11am when they open. They will also have it on draft. Every year this a much anticipated event usually held on the Anniversary itself, this year we had to wait a little longer for the beer to get where we wanted it. We will wait to tap the beer here until 4pm. Go here for more details.

Here is a brief description of the beer:
The theme for the beer, being our 13th anniversary and all, was to use 13 Malts and 13 Hops, brewed on the 13th, in a huge strong ale. This monster of a beer took a bit longer to finish fermenting than anticipated but it’s finally ready.

Silver City Brewers night and Diamond Knot Herbert’s release

Wednesday Night, March 21st at 6pm we are pleased to have Silver City in the house for a Brewer’s Night. We will be tapping 8 of their beers, including: St. Florian Ipa, Whoop Pass Double Ipa, Fat Woody Scotch Ale, and Old Scrooge Winter Bock. Please come out and show your support for Washington Beer. There will be brewery representatives on hand to answer your questions.
Thursday night, March 22nd at 6pm we will be releasing this year’s Herbert’s Ale, an ale brewed in honor of one of the pioneer’s in the Washington Craft Beer Industry, Burt Grant(pictured above). This year it was brewed by Diamond Knot. Draft beer will start flowing at 6pm. We invite you to join us.
It’s that time of year again!!!! Seattle Beer Week is just around the corner and will be here before you know it. We have some old Here is a short list of Events that we will be hosting.
