What’s next? Well, the month of March is filling up fast with events here at Brouwer’s Café.
Thursday, March 10th at 6pm, we will be tapping Sump and Burundi Sump, 2 variants of Perennial Sump (a 10.5% CoffeeStout). Nothing like a little bit of gas and a little bit of brake in your beer! Come and join us for this rare experience.
Wednesday, March 16th starting at 3pm is “If you don’t know, now you know!”, is a night with Melvin Brewing. Owner/Field Hoperative Jeremy Tofte will be joining us to officially launch Melvin into the Seattle market. We will be tapping 4 Melvin beers (and maybe a few more!), including the 2×4, a Pale Ale (aka Heubert), the Melvin IPA and Asterisk DIPA, and showcasing some of Jeremy’s favorite things (Wu Tang and Kung Fu!).
Thursday, March 24th starting at 3pm, we will be celebrating our 11th Anniversary! Can you believe it’s been 11 years? What a wild ride, and we couldn’t do it without your continued support! So, for this special celebration we have Steve Luke ofCloudburst Brewing (who brewed our 9th anniversary at Elysian, and is known for his hoppy creations!) making the 11th Anniversary Hu11abalo DIPA. Expect it to be one hoppy ding dong! In honor of Steve’s love of tropical patterns, we’re asking everyone to wear their favorite Hawaiian shirt, but have procured quite a few ourselves in case you forget! Look for there to be other beers from Cloudburst on draft as well.
Saturday March 26th is Orval Day, and it’s coming to Seattle this year, hosted by us! What is Orval and why do they get a whole day dedicated to them? If you ask 100 brewers what their favorite beer is, we bet more than half of them will say, “Orval.” Notre Dame d’Orval Monastery has been making 1 beer and that beer is the stuff of legends. ”Three different malts, two types of hops, Belgian candy sugar, complex fermentation with multiple yeasts, dry-hopping and bottle conditioning all contribute to great character and complexity.” –merchantduvin.com The challenge has been extended to select bars around the country to see which one can pour (and have their patrons consume!) the most Orval in a single day. We would of course love that honor, but need your help in making this happen! Come to Brouwer’s and taste (again or for the first time) the first Brett beer to land on the shores of the United States. Starts at 11AM.
and then its on to April…
Saturday, April 9th all day long is “6 Degrees of Inebriation”, which will raise money for select local charities (still working on which ones!). 6 Breweries including Firestone Walker, New Belgium, Deschutes, HUB, Sierra Nevada and Two Beers proposed this event, so look for rare beers as well as some core beers from these 6 breweries. Some of the proceeds will be donated to charity and there will be a game show (complete with interactive games!) from 4-6pm. This is an all day event, but show up early to sign up for the game show. We will have a draftlist soon and it will not disappoint
